Hosting and server logs

Server hosting is provided by netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Str. 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Deutschland. Cloudflare is currently used exclusively for domain DNS management; web requests are not currently routed through the Cloudflare network. As part of DNS resolution and when pages or the calculation API are accessed, technically necessary connection data may be processed, including IP address, date and time, requested resource, referrer, browser/user-agent, status code and transferred data volume. Processing serves secure and reliable delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, in particular the secure, stable operation of the service and the prevention of abusive access. Our own API and application logs are retained for 7 Tage, unless a security incident requires longer evidence retention. If Cloudflare is later additionally used as a CDN, reverse proxy or for security functions, this notice will be updated accordingly.

Calculations

Values entered into a calculator are transmitted to the calculation API to produce the requested result. The application does not require an account and does not intentionally store calculation inputs in a user profile or database. Avoid entering personal, confidential or export-controlled information. API and infrastructure logs may nevertheless contain technical request metadata as described above.

Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console to monitor search visibility. It does not load an analytics script on your device or set Search Console cookies. Google provides us only with aggregated search and indexing data about the website. Search Console is an administrative service for the operator, not a tracking tool embedded in this website.

Email enquiries

If you contact us by email at info.normcalc@gmail.com, we process the information you provide, in particular your email address, message content, any attachments and technical communication data. Processing serves to handle and respond to your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in reliable communication; where your enquiry concerns pre-contractual measures, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR may also apply. We delete the data once it is no longer required to handle the enquiry, unless statutory retention duties or legitimate reasons require longer retention. The message is processed through the email service used for the contact address; if Gmail is used, Google is an additional recipient. Storage in the Gmail account is additionally subject to Google's settings and privacy terms. Please do not send confidential or security-critical information by email.

Services not currently used

NormCalc currently has no user accounts, newsletters, contact forms, social-media plugins, embedded third-party media, personalised advertising or profiling. No automated decision is made about individual users.

URL parameters and local storage

Some calculators, particularly the ISO 286 calculators, write technical inputs such as nominal size, tolerance class or fit to the browser address as URL parameters after a successful calculation. These values may be visible in browser history, shared links and referrer or server logs. Do not enter personal, confidential or security-critical data into such calculators or links. Local browser data can be deleted through the browser’s site-data settings at any time.

Unit preference

The selected Metric/US preference is stored locally in your browser under engineering-unit-preset. It is required to retain the setting requested by you and is not used for tracking. You can remove it through your browser storage settings.

Consent and Google Analytics

Google Analytics is not enabled in this deployment. No advertising, audience measurement, marketing cookies or embedded third-party media are currently used.

External source links are ordinary links and load only after you follow them.

Recipients and transfers

Recipients are the hosting provider and Cloudflare for domain DNS management. If Cloudflare is later additionally used as a CDN, reverse proxy or for security functions, processing may also occur outside the European Economic Area. The applicable statutory and contractual transfer mechanisms apply, including standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision where available. Google also provides Google Search Console and processes search and indexing data as part of that service; processing in third countries may occur under the service terms. Google Analytics is not a recipient in this deployment. For email enquiries, the email service used for the contact address is also a recipient; if Gmail is used, this is Google. Processing in third countries may occur under the terms of the respective service. This information is updated if additional services are introduced or the processing changes.

Your rights

Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The intended competent authority is: Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte, Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, post@sdtb.sachsen.de.

Requests may be sent to info.normcalc@gmail.com and are generally answered within one month. For complex or numerous requests, the period may be extended as permitted by law; you will be informed if this happens. Reasonable proof of identity may be requested to prevent unauthorised disclosure.

Security and changes

The service uses encrypted HTTPS transport, restricted administration access, security updates and proportionate logging. This notice is updated when the service or its data processing changes.
